Need something different for a back-to-school activity? Create a time capsule with your kiddos! They will have SO much fun opening them at the end of the school year! I mean, who doesn’t love a time capsule?! Plus, you can make some of the prompts to tie in your social studies standards (time, continuity, change, trade, export/import, etc.)!

Time Capsules can be whatever you want! The possibilities are ENDLESS! If you need some inspiration, here is a list of ideas for you to include in your time capsule activity!

Putting the Time Capsule together can be as elaborate or as simple as you’d like! You can have your students just fill out papers and file it away. If they have pictures, you can give them a fancy envelope and have a sealing ceremony! If you’re going the extra mile, you can put together an actual capsule! Students can use a coffee can or a soda bottle and tape a label around it. You can have a sealing ceremony for these as well. Whatever you choose, make it a BIG deal! The kids will be excited if you’re excited!
